The temple of Horus at Edfu is the most completely preserved temple in Egypt. Built in the Ptolemaic period, it retains its pylon, courtyards, hypostyle hall, sanctuary and even its roof — because it lay buried in sand and silt for centuries.
The walls carry one of the longest religious texts in Egypt, including a detailed account of the conflict between Horus and Seth.
