Kom Ombo is unusual among Egyptian temples because it is perfectly symmetrical, with two parallel sets of courts, halls and sanctuaries — one dedicated to Sobek the crocodile god, the other to Horus the Elder.
Its riverside setting makes it a favourite stop on Nile cruises, and it is one of the few temples that stays open into the evening.
