The Bent Pyramid

built by Pharaoh Sneferu, is famed for its unique shape: its lower section rises steeply, then abruptly changes to a shallower angle. This "bent" appearance resulted from engineering challenges during construction, making it a crucial example of ancient Egyptian builders learning and adapting as they moved from step pyramids to the smooth-sided "true" pyramids. It remarkably retains much of its original polished limestone casing.

Red Pyramid

The Red Pyramid at Dahshur, built by Pharaoh Sneferu, is significant as the first successfully completed "true" smooth-sided pyramid. Its reddish limestone blocks give it its name. At roughly 105 meters tall, it's the third-largest pyramid in Egypt, representing a perfect culmination of the architectural lessons learned from earlier attempts like the Bent Pyramid.
